About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise the operations and deliverables of the industrial hygiene team
- Develop and lead team members with varying backgrounds and skill levels
- Set clear direction and objectives aligned with SAIF’s vision and mission
- Drive employee engagement, team effectiveness, collaboration, and inclusion
- Ensure consistent and transparent execution of industrial hygiene services and operations
- Assess customer needs and referrals and assign work based on expertise, capacity, and priorities
- Monitor workload distribution, service quality, productivity, and customer outcomes
- Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of industrial hygiene best practices
- Serve as the central point of contact for industrial hygiene subject matters
- Provide oversight and quality assurance for industrial hygiene evaluations, occupational disease investigations, exposure assessments, and technical reports
- Hire, onboard, develop, and manage technical professional staff
- Oversee outsourced industrial hygiene services and administer laboratory and consulting contracts
- Prepare program updates, operational reports, strategic input, and the team’s operational budget
- Collaborate across SAIF and with the Other States Coverage Manager to serve out-of-state policyholders
- Provide expert consultation to internal stakeholders and legal counsel
- Serve as an expert witness and provide testimony at hearings when required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Seven or more years of progressively responsible industrial hygiene experience
- Demonstrated skill leading and coaching employees
- Experience providing industrial hygiene services to a variety of policyholders, insurance environments, or diverse clients with varying environmental and occupational hazards
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene or a related science
- Professional designation as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is required
- A master’s degree in industrial hygiene may substitute for the initial CIH requirement if CIH designation is obtained within one year of hire
- Valid driver’s license in the state of residence
- Acceptable driving record according to SAIF’s policy
- Other combinations of skills and experience may be considered
