About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute proactive government relations strategies targeting elected officials, ministers, and government agencies
- Shape policy on AI governance, agentic technology, cloud security, data sovereignty, privacy, and IT modernisation
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with government decision-makers, agency executives, and procurement leaders
- Partner with the Salesforce Public Sector team to address commercial friction and unblock public sector procurement pathways
- Build an engagement plan supporting strategic growth objectives across government
- Represent and manage Salesforce in technology industry associations and policy coalitions
- Collaborate with Legal, PR, Compliance, Security, Product, sales, and other internal teams
- Serve as the central point of contact and subject matter expert for Australian government affairs, regulatory inquiries, and political outreach
- Report to the Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy for APAC
- Provide other support as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of progressive experience in senior government affairs, public policy, or legislative roles within technology, government, or top-tier advisory
- Deep knowledge of policy-making, legislative, and regulatory processes across Australian Federal and State governments
- Strong background in tech procurement frameworks, cloud security standards, and emerging tech governance
- Exceptional written, verbal, and executive presentation skills
- Proven ability to articulate complex policy issues to senior political and corporate leaders
- Proven track record operating effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed corporate environment alongside sales, legal, product, and PR teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, International Relations, or equivalent practical experience, OR Bachelor/Graduate degree, or equivalent proven experience in public policy and/or law
- Experience working at a multinational company or a technology company and/or in highly regulated sectors such as health, defence, or financial services
