Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and scale a multi-layered engineering group building high-impact platforms
Develop the organization by establishing growth paths and empowering Engineering Managers and Engineering Leaders
Foster a high-trust, high-standards culture with operational rigor and open communication
Drive quarterly delivery goals, milestones, timelines, and cross-functional dependencies
Set technical strategy and architectural direction
Own system performance, SLA compliance, incident response, and platform resiliency
Own and synthesize multi-quarter technical roadmaps and secure stakeholder alignment
Identify resourcing gaps, architectural risks, and timeline blockers with mitigation plans
Represent engineering in high-level stakeholder and business unit meetings
Manage, mentor, and delegate to Engineering Managers and Engineering Leaders
Conduct performance gap analyses and execute remediation plans
Communicate strategic shifts, organizational changes, and roadmaps to engineers
Establish systems for SLA compliance, bug hygiene, and incident management, including RCAs
Drive cross-functional projects from PRD through production rollout
Establish unified dashboarding and standardized reporting metrics
Provide visibility into sprint deliverables, capacity constraints, and blockers
Ensure technical and leadership communications are accurate and thoroughly vetted

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of software engineering experience
At least 3+ years at the Director level managing multiple teams and managers
Proven experience designing, building, and operating large-scale services with high availability requirements
Strong architectural background
Ability to deeply vet technical designs and root-cause analyses (RCAs)
Experience resolving complex technical debt at scale
Proven track record implementing operational systems that allow teams to function autonomously
Ability to distill complex engineering statuses into clear, actionable executive updates
Ability to handle production incidents and escalations calmly
Ability to maintain focus on operational baselines and project milestones
