Identify research directions with potential to transform Enterprise AI
Turn promising ideas into zero-to-one AI product prototypes
Work directly with customers to validate needs, test solutions, and refine product direction
Build robust models, agents, and AI systems for real-world enterprise use
Partner with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to bring solutions to market
Propose and incubate new research ideas
Translate cutting-edge research into production AI capabilities
Publish research at leading AI conferences and open source influential research

Requirements

What you’ll need

This role is only open to prior Salesforce interns; all others will not be considered
Strong publication record at top AI venues and/or proven track record of shipping AI research into real-world products
Experience with Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or DeepSpeed
Demonstrated expertise in one or more core focus areas: Agentic AI and Reasoning; Multimodal and Computer Vision; Speech Intelligence; Core Modeling and Post-Training
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and translate ideas into impactful systems
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related technical field — or equivalent full-time industry experience in deep learning research or product (preferred)
Experience building and scaling ML models for real-world business applications (preferred)
Experience mentoring and advising other researchers (preferred)
Strong programming skills, such as competitive programming or open source experience (preferred)
Knowledge of responsible AI, trust, and real-world system impact (preferred)
Excellent problem-solving ability (preferred)
Excellent written and spoken communication skills (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong working relationships and drive cross-functional collaboration (preferred)
