About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the Noise & Intelligence pod within Slack’s Core Mobile team
Manage a globally distributed, multidisciplinary team of iOS and Android engineers
Define the pod’s problem-space direction, investment priorities, sequencing, and areas to decline
Own team culture and build a high-trust environment supporting impactful work and technical growth
Partner with product managers and designers on planning, dependencies, timelines, and risks
Define quality measures across iOS and Android platforms
Drive data-informed investments and embed security, accessibility, and performance into team practices
Hire engineers and represent the team’s work in priority-setting discussions
Help engineers grow their impact
Communicate status and risks transparently to leadership early enough to prevent fire drills

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years leading engineering teams building high-performance web or mobile applications
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Previous experience as a Senior+ iOS or Android engineer
Sufficient depth for architecture discussions and rapid SME knowledge development
Experience managing engineers across a wide time-zone gap with an asynchronous working rhythm
Understanding of where AI software development tooling can be deployed for maximum team impact
History of using technical experience to weigh stability, performance, velocity, and user experience in ambiguous decisions
Experience managing high-performing mobile teams is an advantage
