About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the Noise & Intelligence pod within Slack Core Mobile
Manage a globally distributed, multidisciplinary team of iOS and Android engineers
Define the problem space, investment priorities, sequencing, and areas to decline
Own team culture and build a high-trust environment supporting impactful work and technical growth
Partner with Product Managers and Designers on planning, dependencies, timelines, and risks
Define quality measures across iOS and Android platforms
Drive data-driven investments and embed security, accessibility, and performance into team practices
Hire engineers and represent the team’s work in priority-setting discussions
Understand engineers’ work and help them grow their impact
Work transparently and communicate emerging issues to leadership early

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years leading engineering teams building high-performance web or mobile applications
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Previous experience as a Senior+ iOS or Android engineer
Sufficient depth to contribute credibly to architecture discussions
Ability to build subject-matter expertise in a new area quickly
Experience managing engineers across a wide time-zone gap
Experience working with an asynchronous rhythm that does not depend on overlap hours
Understanding of how and where AI software development tooling can be deployed for maximum team impact
History of using technical experience to weigh stability, performance, velocity, and user experience when the right answer is unclear
Specialized experience managing high-performing mobile teams is an advantage
