About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the Noise & Intelligence pod within Slack Core Mobile
Manage a globally distributed, multidisciplinary team of iOS and Android engineers
Set direction for the problem space, including investments, sequencing, and declined work
Own team culture and build a high-trust environment supporting impactful work and technical growth
Partner with product managers and designers on planning, dependencies, timelines, and risks
Define quality measures across iOS and Android and drive data-driven investments
Ensure security, accessibility, and performance are embedded in team practices
Hire engineers and represent the team’s work in priority-setting discussions
Understand engineers’ work deeply and help them grow their impact
Communicate status and risks to leadership early and transparently

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years leading engineering teams building high performance web or mobile applications
Strong software engineering fundamentals
Previous experience as a Senior+ iOS or Android engineer
Sufficient technical depth for architecture discussions and rapidly building SME knowledge in new areas
Experience managing engineers across a wide time-zone gap with an async rhythm that does not depend on overlap hours
Understanding of how and where AI software development tooling can be deployed for maximum team impact
History of using technical experience to weigh stability, performance, velocity, and user experience when making decisions under ambiguity
Specialized experience managing high-performing mobile teams preferred as an additional qualification
