About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report to the Senior Director of the SOX team
  • Oversee outsourced management testing operations
  • Build and own the business process Continuous Controls Monitoring roadmap
  • Assess in-scope controls for automated or system-based testing opportunities
  • Sequence controls into a multi-year plan to reduce manual testing effort
  • Partner with process owners, engineering, and tooling leads to design and implement continuous monitoring solutions
  • Drive full-population assurance through data analytics and ongoing monitoring
  • Build business cases and quantify ROI for continuous monitoring investments
  • Track continuous monitoring coverage and program-health metrics
  • Partner with external auditors on reliance standards, automated scripts, and Information Produced by Entity
  • Serve as primary contact for the outsourced management testing provider
  • Ensure testing is completed successfully, on time, and to a high-quality standard
  • Negotiate testing approaches, scope, and timelines with external auditors, outsourced firms, and internal control owners
  • Remove bottlenecks and resolve stalled controls
  • Manage vendors, Statement of Work negotiations, and testing budgets
  • Partner with vendor leadership to convert monitoring innovations into reduced testing hours and cost efficiencies
  • Liaise between the outsourced testing firm and external auditors on CCM reliance, data completeness/accuracy, and automated testing strategy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, or risk & controls
  • Direct experience managing or interfacing with external audit/testing firms (Big 4 or equivalent)
  • Experience building or implementing Continuous Controls Monitoring (CCM), with measurable reduction of manual testing effort
  • Hands-on comfort with data analytics and visualization tools
  • Ability to evaluate which controls are automation-ready
  • Ability to negotiate testing approaches, scope, timelines, SOWs, and vendor SLAs with senior stakeholders and external partners
  • Deep understanding of PCAOB standards and the COSO framework
  • Understanding of external auditor evaluation of Information Produced by Entity (IPE) when relying on automated controls and data analytics
  • Ability to bridge accounting/finance and technical engineering/IT/data teams
  • Recent Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA, CIA, CISA, or CDPSE certification preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Finance, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience building continuous monitoring solutions or GRC/audit tooling integrations preferred
  • Strong multitasking, analytical, decision-making, leadership, project management, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to lead projects through a fast-paced life cycle
