About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain identity and access management services on AWS and Kubernetes
- Work alongside senior engineers on system design, implementation, and operational reliability, including monitoring, alerting, and SLOs
- Build and improve controls governing how AI agents authenticate, request access, and operate within Slack's systems
- Design and build systems and APIs that remove manual access-management steps and reduce organizational risk
- Partner with engineers across Identity, Security, and Infrastructure on shared services and APIs
- Participate in regular code and design reviews
- Take on increasing ownership of projects and systems while developing identity-domain expertise
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating production backend systems
- Proficiency in a high-level programming language such as Python or Go
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including deploying and operating services in a cloud environment
- Working knowledge of distributed systems concepts, including APIs, service architecture, and data stores
- Solid understanding of security fundamentals and secure software development practices
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Strong written communication skills and ability to write clear documentation
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Nice to have: Previous experience deploying and managing workloads in Kubernetes
- Interest in or exposure to authentication, authorization, identity lifecycle management, or access governance is a plus, not required
