About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain reliability and performance across customer-facing Salesforce GovCloud services
- Support foundational infrastructure health
- Lead incident response during major operational events such as Sev0/Sev1 incidents
- Participate in post-incident reviews and drive problem resolution
- Populate and participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCAs)
- Partner with Global Solutions teams to implement preventative solutions
- Align Site Reliability Engineering activities with compliance, security standards, and operational guidelines
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges
- Mentor and collaborate with teammates on emerging technologies and continuous learning
- Adapt to fast-paced operational needs and prioritize competing tasks
- Automate detection and resolution of recurring production issues
- Improve workflows to streamline engineering practices and reduce operational and engineering toil
- Participate in rotating 24/7 support, including night shifts and on-call rotations
Requirements
What you’ll need- U.S. citizenship (U.S. born or naturalized) without dual citizenship
- Agreement to complete a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) for a Moderate Public Trust position or other applicable clearances
- Ability to operate on U.S. soil and meet customer and government screening standards
- Criminal Justice Information Services screening with fingerprint scan
- Related technical degree
- Experience with enterprise-scale internet service operations or systems engineering
- Expertise in TCP/IP technologies, networking protocols, and network programming
- Command-line expertise and Unix administration knowledge, including Linux, Solaris, and BSD
- Knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Solaris
- Comprehension of security monitoring systems and infrastructure administration
- Written and verbal communication skills focused on collaborative teamwork
- Familiarity with Incident Management principles and IT service operation frameworks
- Ability to support a 24/7 high-availability environment, including shift and on-call rotations
- Experience provisioning, operating, and running AWS/C2S infrastructure and systems
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar scripting/programming languages
- Openness to leveraging AI technologies in engineering workflows
- Chef/Puppet or automated deployment experience preferred
- Jenkins, Bamboo, or Spinnaker pipeline execution experience preferred
- Monitoring and alert systems experience preferred
- Java application support and maintenance experience preferred
- AWS CLI/SDK configuration and operation experience preferred
- Linux+, RedHat, or AWS certifications preferred
- Kubernetes application and service support experience preferred
- Experience with blameless retrospectives, incident analysis, and post-incident investigations preferred
- Knowledge of resilience engineering and Safety II concepts preferred
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps preferred
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor preferred
- Advanced prompt engineering skills preferred
