About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and operate systems and services delivering metrics, telemetry, and alerting for data center infrastructure
  • Automate systems services across storage, network, and server infrastructure
  • Enable collection of infrastructure telemetry and make infrastructure visible and accessible
  • Ensure alerts are generated where action is needed
  • Build and ship high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices and AI development tools
  • Design and orchestrate complex systems where AI agents integrate into human workflows
  • Critically evaluate human- and AI-generated code for correctness, quality, security, and performance
  • Contribute to the shared system context repository containing system designs, constraints, and standards
  • Participate in an on-call rotation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 4 years of experience supporting a codebase for distributed services implemented in modern programming languages such as Clojure, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • Experience automating systems services and processes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Long-standing practice using source control such as Git and unit testing
  • Experience publishing and consuming REST APIs
  • CI/CD experience with Jenkins
  • Knowledge of Linux (RedHat), including configuration, packages, services, daemons, shells, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with configuration automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and/or Chef
  • Experience in fast-paced, technical environments experiencing rapid growth and change
  • Ability to adapt, be flexible, and learn quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines while coordinating several projects and responding to changing business and technical conditions
  • Demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to engineering
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor in development workflows
  • Advanced prompt engineering skills and ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate system context for reliable, secure, production-ready AI outputs
  • Related technical degree required
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting of network infrastructure in a high-availability, always-on datacenter environment
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting of storage infrastructure in a high-availability, always-on data center environment
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Terraform, Helm, and Spinnaker
  • Strong network engineering skills, including SNMP, BGP, OSPF or ISIS, LAN switching technologies, backbone, load balancers, and IPv4/IPv6 addressing and subnetting
  • Experience with application protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, and TCP/UDP and troubleshooting them
  • Experience with application databases and document stores such as Elasticsearch and Cassandra
  • Experience writing systems automation in a high-level language such as Python
