About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform inventory account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Prepare and analyze inventory-related journal entries and general ledger transactions
- Support month-end and year-end inventory accounting close activities
- Review inventory adjustments, transfers, reserves, write-offs, and other inventory transactions
- Analyze inventory trends and provide reporting for business decision-making
- Partner with Supply Chain, Distribution Centers, Merchandising, and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle count reconciliation
- Support internal and external audits with inventory documentation and analysis
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and company accounting policies
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Support special projects and other accounting duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in inventory, cost accounting, retail, distribution, or supply chain environments
- Experience supporting month-end close and general ledger reconciliations
- Understanding of inventory accounting principles and financial reporting concepts
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control requirements preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as Lawson, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
