About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own and refine the company's financial projection models for revenue, headcount, and cash flow
Drive the strategic roadmap toward cash-flow break-even post-Series A
Manage and mentor the existing Finance & HR Manager and Recruiter
Ensure smooth day-to-day bookkeeping, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close operations
Act as financial co-pilot to the CEO and COO for venture fundraising
Drive data room preparation and cap table scenario modeling
Present high-level performance metrics directly to the board
Develop payer- and partner-facing financial models for specialty virtual care services
Analyze unit economics and contract structures for commercial and partnership discussions
Advise leadership on cash management, banking relationships, and budget allocation
Oversee accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting and appropriate internal controls
Oversee compensation banding, annual benefits renewal negotiations, and payroll compliance
Model headcount costs, track employee acquisition spend, and align HR technology with the operational budget
Determine staffing projections and coordinate with the Recruiter to ensure adequate staffing
Serve as final executive escalation point for payroll execution, state-level employment tax compliance, and benefit program funding for a remote workforce
Report to the Chief Operating Officer

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of progressive finance experience, including experience as a VP of Finance or similar senior finance leader, ideally at a venture-backed startup
Experience working with virtual health care delivery or tech-enabled services companies
Proven track record building financial models, projections, and variance analyses in a fast-growing environment
Experience managing or mentoring finance staff, such as a Controller or bookkeeper
Direct experience supporting fundraising processes, such as Series A/B diligence and investor reporting
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
Experience with QuickBooks or a similar accounting system
Experience with enterprise ERP migration is a plus
Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a full-time, remote capacity
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate financial detail into clear, actionable insight for non-finance stakeholders
Sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive financial and cap table information
Personal passion for health and wellness topics preferred
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Must be based and work in the United States
