About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee operations of company-managed stores assigned to the region
- Lead all aspects of a Field Operations organizational unit, including staffing, workforce planning, budgeting, financial performance, and daily operations
- Provide authentic and motivational leadership to advance SAM’s culture and exceed goals
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain District Directors and District Managers
- Partner with Human Resources to design workforce plans and achieve full regional staffing
- Create succession and development plans
- Oversee regional financial performance, annual budget creation, and monitoring of storage and non-storage asset budgets
- Foster proactive client communication regarding financial performance and budgets
- Hold responsibility for meeting regional budget targets
- Design strategies and programs to increase profitability
- Guide day-to-day regional operations and ensure business strategy execution and operational efficiency
- Serve as a cross-functional leader and connector for organizational initiatives
- Represent regional needs during new projects, initiatives, and rollouts
- Communicate regional needs to corporate teams to improve operations and team development
- Lead client and customer/tenant satisfaction efforts
- Identify and address potential client concerns
- Review and analyze customer feedback and reviews to improve service quality
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure regional compliance with SAM standards
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local laws
- Travel up to 60%, including district visits, client meetings, industry shows, and quarterly in-person leadership meetings
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 years of previous management experience within storage or multi-unit management
- Multi-Unit self-storage leadership experience at the District Manager level (or higher) is required
- Demonstrated track record of success with ability to lead a portfolio of self-storage properties
- Superior organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language
- Minimum 40 hours of regular and predictable attendance per week
- Occasional weekend work may be required
- Driver's license is a requirement
- Must reside in a state where SAM is registered to conduct business
