About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee operations of company-managed stores assigned to the region
  • Lead all aspects of a Field Operations organizational unit, including staffing, workforce planning, budgeting, financial performance, and daily operations
  • Provide motivational leadership to advance SAM’s culture and exceed goals
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain District Directors and District Managers
  • Partner with Human Resources to design workforce plans and achieve full staffing across the region
  • Create succession and development plans
  • Oversee regional financial performance, annual budget creation, and monitoring of storage and non-storage asset budgets
  • Foster client communication regarding financial performance and budgets
  • Hold responsibility for meeting regional budget targets
  • Design strategies and programs to boost profitability
  • Apply self-storage industry trends and best practices
  • Guide day-to-day regional operations and operational efficiency
  • Serve as a cross-functional leader and represent regional needs in projects, initiatives, and rollouts
  • Communicate regional needs with corporate teams to improve operations and team development
  • Lead client and customer/tenant satisfaction efforts and address concerns
  • Review customer feedback and reviews to enhance service quality
  • Ensure regional compliance with SAM standards and applicable laws, including OSHA, FLSA, and FMLA
  • Travel up to 60%, including district visits, client meetings, industry shows, and quarterly in-person leadership meetings
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of previous management experience within storage or multi-unit management
  • Multi-Unit self-storage leadership experience at the District Manager level (or higher) is required
  • Demonstrated track record of success with ability to lead a portfolio of self-storage properties
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English language
  • Driver's license is a requirement
  • Minimum of 40 hours of regular and predictable attendance per week
  • Occasional weekend work may be required
  • Employees are required to reside in a state where SAM is registered to conduct business
