About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development of indexable tool concepts, solid round tools, tooling systems and cutting tool grades from concept through launch readiness
- Ensure delivery of product, grade, application and cutting-process knowledge, models and data for internal and external users
- Set and execute a market- and technology-driven strategy and roadmap for technology and knowledge development
- Embed sustainability throughout technology and knowledge development
- Build partnerships and strengthen collaboration within Sandvik and with external research ecosystems
- Lead and develop leaders and technical teams
- Ensure future capabilities and succession
- Guide the organization through change
- Help set direction for the R&D function as a member of the R&D leadership team
- Strengthen collaboration across teams and sites and accelerate innovation
- Report to the VP R&D
Requirements
What you’ll need- Senior leadership experience from industrial R&D, product development, engineering or another technology-intensive environment
- Experience with complex product portfolios and organizational change
- Experience leading leaders or large technical teams
- Track record of bringing complex products to market
- Experience working with global, matrixed stakeholder groups
- Advanced degree in mechanical, materials or production engineering or a related field
- Fluency in English
- Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage
- International and cross-cultural experience is an advantage
- Knowledge of metal cutting, tooling systems, cutting tool grades or industrial manufacturing is highly valued
