About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct research using hiPSC to model neurological disease
  • Develop patient-specific, cell-based models for neurological disease
  • Screen for drugs and validate new targets and chemical molecules
  • Investigate underlying cellular and molecular processes
  • Develop neurological disease phenotype models using patient-specific iPSCs
  • Use high-throughput drug screening technologies
  • Generate hypotheses and design experiments
  • Interpret data, troubleshoot, and optimize experiments
  • Analyze data from different sources and draw relevant conclusions
  • Present results at internal and external meetings
  • Accurately document experiments
  • Contribute to reports and manuscripts with increasing responsibility
  • Collaborate across lab functions and train junior lab staff as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences or Biology
  • M.D. or Ph.D. required
  • Preference for new graduates or postdocs with 3 or fewer years of experience
  • Proven experience in one or more of: cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, neurobiology, electrophysiology
  • Research experience in neuropsychiatric or neurodegenerative diseases is an advantage
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent data presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be willing to work onsite in San Diego
  • Out-of-state applicants must disclose willingness to relocate
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the facility
  • Capability to lift and carry equipment, food supplies, and animal enclosures, typically up to 40 pounds
  • Manual dexterity for handling small animals and using tools and equipment precisely
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks
  • Flexibility to bend and stoop
  • Visual acuity to observe animal behavior and health
