About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead delivery of a reliable monetization platform
- Own the engineering roadmap with Product, balancing billing capabilities, customer-facing improvements, reliability, and reduced manual work
- Guide usage-to-invoice architecture, including metering correctness, subscription lifecycle, reconciliation, budget enforcement, and limit enforcement
- Turn plan, coupon, credit, and invoicing requests into documented APIs and self-service tools
- Coach and develop engineers through feedback, ownership, career support, and hiring
- Participate in architecture reviews, pairing, and code as needed
- Strengthen testing, observability, incident response, and safe migration practices
- Partner with Product, Growth, Finance, RevOps, Support, and engineering teams
- Clarify pricing and billing requirements, surface trade-offs, and protect customer trust
- Keep partner integrations reliable and aligned with upstream API changes
- Measure impact through billing accuracy, self-service adoption, commercial lead time, and operational health
Requirements
What you’ll need- Based in Oslo, Norway, or London, UK
- Proven experience managing engineers and delivering software at a product or SaaS company
- Substantial hands-on engineering background
- Experience leading backend or platform systems where correctness and reliability matter
- Billing, payments, usage metering, subscriptions, or entitlements experience is especially useful
- Ability to communicate technical designs and trade-offs clearly in writing and conversation with technical and non-technical partners
- Ability to turn ambiguity into clear priorities and deliver incrementally
- Experience demonstrating improved customer or business outcomes
- Ability to grow people and build a team with shared ownership
- Ability to work effectively across functions and timezones
- Ability to replace recurring manual work with reusable capabilities
- Deep understanding of event-driven systems, API contracts, idempotency, retries, consistency, reconciliation, and safe changes to critical state
- Familiarity with Orb, Stripe, or Temporal is a plus
