About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for patient support programs and diagnostic testing initiatives
  • Liaise among business colleagues and relevant legal functions
  • Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts for patient support and diagnostic testing programs
  • Advise business partners on the design, launch, and ongoing operation of programs
  • Advise on copay and patient assistance programs, risk mitigation, and customer interactions
  • Review external materials related to patient support and diagnostic testing programs
  • Collaborate with the US Privacy Office and Ethics & Business Integrity on privacy and compliance workstreams
  • Represent the North America Legal Department on relevant privacy workstreams
  • Coordinate implementation of related initiatives
  • Help business colleagues adhere to Sanofi policies and understand legislative, enforcement, and regulatory developments
  • Ensure client operations comply with applicable laws and company policies, including the Anti-Kickback Statute and other US healthcare compliance laws
  • Develop and conduct training for internal teams on compliance and policy development topics
  • Analyze initiatives, advisory board proposals, and field-based activities for fraud and abuse, FDA, and other regulatory compliance
  • Engage with commercial partners across sales, medical, regulatory, operations, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, pharmacovigilance, and external affairs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • JD
  • License to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction; New Jersey or Massachusetts preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of legal experience
  • Preferably both law firm and in-house experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry
  • Experience working in a matrix, international environment
  • Substantive working knowledge of US federal and state laws and regulations relating to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and competition laws
  • Strong understanding of the US healthcare system, including reimbursement and patient access
  • Working knowledge of the legal landscape applicable to patient support programs and diagnostic testing
  • Experience drafting, interpreting, and negotiating third-party contracts
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
  • Ability to provide and communicate sound legal advice aligned with business needs
  • Ability to manage multiple subject matter issues across diverse areas
  • High degree of organizational skill and attention to detail
  • Ability to engage in proactive counseling and thoughtful risk-taking
  • Ability to be decisive in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to understand complex scenarios, propose business-oriented solutions, and communicate issues clearly
  • Sound judgment and commitment to ethical conduct
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a solution-oriented approach
