About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review clinical documentation and assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for facility inpatient records
- Validate MS-DRG calculations to accurately capture documented diagnoses and procedures
- Review and assess documentation for accurate clinical data abstraction and regulatory compliance
- Select and sequence ICD-10-CM and PCS codes for designated patient types, including acute facility inpatient records
- Review clinical records to ensure MS-DRG assignments reflect documented diagnoses and procedures
- Abstract clinical data supporting diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition
- Act as a resource for client staff regarding data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider queries
- Maintain patient and provider confidentiality and support Savista’s Compliance Program
- Participate in client and staff meetings, training, conference calls, and continuing education
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Successfully pass pre-employment skills assessment
- Active AHIMA credential, including RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or related credential
- Active AAPC credential, including COC (formerly CPC-H), CCS-P, CPC, or related specialty credential
- Two (2) years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience with Acute Inpatient records
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and ICD-10-CM/PCS code sets
- Ability to consistently code at a 95% threshold for accuracy and quality
- Proficient computer knowledge, including basic Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook functions
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with internal and external customers
