About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Move work within the department using material handling devices between heat treating, tempering, stress relief, annealing and other departmental operations
Perform scheduled operations according to departmental work instructions
Perform parts cleaning operations
Set up and operate sandblasters for pre-treatment operations
Follow and accurately record data in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems
Perform routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections
Troubleshoot problems and take corrective action according to standard departmental procedures
Inspect own work
Train other operators as needed
Work in other departments or occasionally set up a machine for others to operate
Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S in all areas
Maintain certification through the company Certified Operator Program

Requirements

What you’ll need

Grade 12 diploma
Mechanical aptitude
Ability to manually and as required use material handling devices
Ability to work with heat treating, tempering, stress relief and annealing processes
Ability to perform parts cleaning operations
Ability to set up and operate sandblasters
Ability to accurately record data in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems
Ability to perform dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections
Ability to troubleshoot problems and take corrective action according to departmental procedures
Ability to read and interpret production prints
Adequate computer skills to access production procedures
Ability to meet training matrix skill requirements and maintain certification through the company Certified Operator Program
Required to remove facial hair for fit-testing and production requirements
Must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check
Must be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Pacemakers and insulin pumps cannot enter Heat Treat areas due to magnetic interference
