About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the quality of service and care offered to patients and providers
- Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under provider supervision
- Prepare supplies for allergy testing and treatments
- Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with and without bronchodilators
- Assist in interpretation of patch testing results and perform placement and removal as directed
- Maintain the immunotherapy room and ensure cleanliness
- Observe, record, and report patient vitals and treatment reactions
- Assess patient needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems
- Supervise triaging of patient communications through email and/or portal
- Maintain accurate patient records and document visits in EMR
- Ensure required observation time after injections
- Perform immunotherapy vial mixing and documentation
- React appropriately to patient reactions and inform physicians or clinical staff
- Assist providers with treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorizations, and procedures
- Anticipate provider needs based on patient flow
- Maintain clinical competence and quality patient care
- Keep allergy test sets and emergency kits current
- Confirm insurance benefits before preparing allergy serums
- Interact with physicians, providers, and staff to identify and resolve problems
- Maintain knowledge through articles, journals, seminars, and conferences
- Report malfunctioning medical equipment
- Order and stock supplies and equipment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Previous allergy experience required
- Graduate from an LPN education program approved by the respective state Education Department
- Pass the NCLEX-PN examination
- Active LPN license in the state working in required
- CPR and AED Certifications required
- Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems
- Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Excellent patient relations and customer service skills
- Open availability to work during weekdays
- Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance
- Availability Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays within operating hours of 7am-7pm
