About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clinical support for Allergy services, including allergy testing, immunotherapy, treatments, patient monitoring, and related clinical duties
  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere for patients and providers
  • Apply clinical department operating protocols and policies
  • Assist physicians in Mohs surgery, medical, cosmetic, allergy, and/or laser procedures
  • Prepare and clean surgical and examination rooms
  • Record prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorizations, consents, and procedures
  • Coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
  • Conduct pre- and post-operative patient education
  • Take and monitor patients’ vital signs
  • Prepare operating rooms and inventory items before and after surgery
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications
  • Accurately document patient care information
  • Handle specimens and enforce asepsis standards
  • Select and pass surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon
  • Clean the operating room and sterilize instruments using an autoclave
  • Report adverse reactions and respond to life-saving situations according to nursing standards and protocols
  • Assist with suturing, bleeding control, and wound exposure
  • Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being and provide bedside care
  • Teach patients and significant others post-treatment home care, medication self-administration, and rehabilitation
  • Perform additional office and patient-care tasks as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Pass the NCLEX-PN or state approved comparison
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Active LPN license in the state working in
  • Prior experience working in an outpatient surgery clinical environment strongly preferred
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred
  • Experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, and spirometry) preferred for allergy field and/or office work
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Outlook
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent patient relations and customer services skills
  • Strong follow up skills and ownership/accountability
  • Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated employee
  • Open availability to work during office and/or scheduled hours
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance
