About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide general care and education to patients to promote the Ultimate Patient Experience
  • Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere for patients and providers
  • Maintain knowledge of clinical protocols, policies, treatments, and pre-care/post-care instructions
  • Complete required training and continuing education within allotted time frames
  • Assist physicians with Mohs surgery, medical, cosmetic, allergy, and laser procedures
  • Prepare and clean surgical and examination rooms
  • Record treatments, medications, lab requisitions, biopsies, cultures, photos, prescriptions, prior authorizations, consents, and procedures
  • Coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
  • Conduct pre- and post-operative patient education
  • Serve as communication liaison to families and operating team members
  • Take and monitor vital signs
  • Verify the correct procedure and patient
  • Prepare operating rooms and inventory items before and after surgery
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications via oral, subcutaneous, and IV routes
  • Accurately and timely document patient care
  • Handle specimens and enforce asepsis standards
  • Select and pass surgical instruments and supplies to the surgeon
  • Clean operating rooms and sterilize instruments using an autoclave
  • Report adverse medication or treatment reactions
  • Respond to life-saving situations according to nursing standards and protocols
  • Assist with suturing, bleeding control, and wound exposure
  • Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being and provide bedside care
  • Initiate and deliver physician-prescribed patient education, including home care, medication self-administration, and rehabilitation
  • Perform additional office and patient-care tasks and other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Pass the NCLEX-PN or state approved comparison
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Active LPN license in the state working in
  • Prior experience working in an outpatient surgery clinical environment strongly preferred
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems preferred
  • Experience with allergy testing (skin prick, patch, and spirometry) preferred for allergy field and/or office roles
  • Must be computer savvy and familiar with Outlook
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent patient relations and customer services skills
  • Strong follow-up skills and ownership/accountability
  • Must be professional, reliable, and dedicated
  • Open availability during office and/or scheduled hours
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance
  • Availability Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays within operating hours of 7:00am–7:30pm
  • Willingness to travel to alternate locations within a reasonable distance when required by operational business needs
