About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the Android-based terminal experience end to end, including checkout, payments, returns, and everyday cashier and store-staff workflows
Lead discovery with cashiers and store staff through interviews, remote usability testing, and in-store visits when possible
Design for retail constraints including long lines, interruptions, varying staff experience, and hardware reliability
Partner with product managers to define requirements and challenge assumptions
Collaborate with the Terminal engineering team to bring designs to life and understand platform and hardware capabilities
Help drive the AI-assisted design and build loop
Extend the shared design system to the terminal with the lead designer
Participate in roadmap conversations and post-launch iteration
Contribute to web and back-office design when needed
Bring a point of view, not just execution

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of product/UX design experience in a startup or fast-moving environment
Experience designing and shipping mobile or tablet apps, with a strong grasp of native platform patterns
Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end work, including research, problem framing, and shipped product
Strong visual and interaction design skills
Skilled researcher able to plan discovery, synthesize findings quickly, and turn ambiguous problems into clear design direction
Experience partnering closely with PMs and pushing back constructively
Systems thinking, with care for patterns, consistency, and scalable designs
Comfortable working alongside engineers in a fast-moving R&D environment and understanding implementation constraints
Proficient with Figma and Claude
Able to prototype quickly to test assumptions and communicate behavior
