About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the design of merchant workflows for customer orders, transactions, payments, and integrations in the back office
- Lead discovery with store owners and managers through interviews, usability testing, and in-store visits when possible
- Turn research findings into clear design decisions
- Make complex information understandable and actionable, including payouts, fees, sales reports, and transaction histories
- Design responsive mobile and tablet experiences
- Partner with product managers to define requirements and challenge assumptions
- Collaborate with engineers to bring designs to life and support AI-assisted design and build workflows
- Contribute to and evolve the design system, including patterns for tables, filters, and detail pages
- Collaborate with designers across back-office and in-store experiences
- Participate in roadmap discussions and post-launch iteration
- Bring a point of view, not just execution
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of product/UX design experience in a startup or fast-moving environment
- Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end work, including research, problem framing, and shipped product
- Experience designing data-heavy web products, such as dashboards, reports, or transaction views
- Experience designing responsive experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Strong visual and interaction design skills
- Ability to plan discovery, synthesize findings quickly, and turn ambiguous problems into clear design direction
- Experience partnering closely with PMs and pushing back constructively
- Systems-thinking focused on patterns, consistency, and scalable designs
- Comfort working alongside engineers in a fast-moving R&D environment and understanding implementation constraints
- Proficient with Figma and Claude, and able to prototype quickly
