About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive the vision and roadmap for Scotch’s back-office web application
  • Own product catalog, ordering, receiving, and inventory management features
  • Turn product direction into sequenced releases and own release contents
  • Gather requirements from merchants and staff and translate conflicting input into clear direction
  • Execute the AI feature strategy, including selecting use cases, building trust, and measuring outcomes
  • Serve as product point of contact for support, onboarding, and go-to-market teams
  • Define problems, outcomes, success metrics, and quality evaluation before development
  • Design workflows that scale from solo owners to multi-location tenants with layered roles and delegated access
  • Prioritize merchant escalations, platform work, and long-term initiatives
  • Partner with engineering on scoping and sequencing
  • Coordinate releases end to end, including rollout communications and issue handling
  • Instrument products, monitor adoption, and evaluate whether releases succeed
  • Conduct direct research with merchants and back-office staff
  • Raise standards for product writing, decision-making, and merchant communication

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Heavily preferred: web application product experience, including ownership of a complex, data-heavy web app with real customers
  • Experience taking an AI-powered capability from idea to production inside an established SaaS product
  • Experience designing administrative workflows involving roles, permissions, approvals, audit needs, multiple locations, teams, and access levels
  • Evidence of operating without a backstop and owning decisions independently
  • Experience conducting direct customer research with owners, managers, buyers, and bookkeepers, including onsite store research
  • Ability to articulate product judgment and identify mistakes independently
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams and prioritizing tradeoffs
  • Ability to write buildable product specifications and explain decisions to merchants, support leads, and executives
  • 5+ years of product experience
  • Nice to have: product experience in accounting, finance, or inventory management products
  • Nice to have: purchasing, receiving, invoicing, or accounts-payable workflow experience
  • Nice to have: retail, distribution, or point-of-sale background
  • Nice to have: SQL proficiency for answering product questions
  • Nice to have: fluency with AI tools in daily workflow
