About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own Stylus, Scribe's design system, including its roadmap, triage, adoption, accessibility coverage, documentation health, and governance
- Build complex shared components and one-off components where aesthetics and performance must be balanced
- Build interactive React and TypeScript prototypes and validate them with customers
- Collaborate directly with designers in Figma and code without a handoff
- Keep design and code aligned through tokens, legacy-component migration, and Figma-to-code tooling
- Explore AI-ready design languages and build primitives for model-assembled interfaces
- Document prompts, patterns, and workflows used in Cursor and Claude Code
- Mentor engineers on design principles
- Publish the Stylus roadmap and quality bar
- Automate reporting for adoption, accessibility, and documentation health
- Improve contribution workflows for engineers and designers
- Ship AI workflows, prompts, skills, and tooling for designers and product managers
- Deliver first-quarter milestones including an initial production Stylus change, system assessment, hard component, legacy migration, and AI workflows
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of experience in front-end development
- Strong design sensibility and real depth in CSS, the DOM, and browser rendering
- Ability to choose between native platform elements and framework versions and explain the decision
- Design ability to make interaction decisions and assess implementation costs
- Deep experience with design systems, including components, primitives, tokens, versioning, adoption, and governance
- Ability to own a roadmap and make prioritization decisions
- Experience building with AI tools such as Cursor and Claude Code
- Accessibility, keyboard and touch input, and respecting user preferences handled by default
- Code-and-craft exercise required; portfolio review is not the interview format
- Must live in or within commuting distance of San Francisco
- Nice to have: Figma plugins, automations, or CI checks for design-system adoption and accessibility
- Nice to have: Web components or multi-framework experience, including non-React surfaces
- Nice to have: Desktop apps or browser extensions experience
- Nice to have: Agent-facing or generative UI experience
