About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver prescribing support for the private GLP-1 weight-management service
- Deliver prescribing support across NHS BSOP and tier 3 services
- Conduct clinical assessments and medication reviews
- Issue prescriptions and respond to prescribing queries in line with agreed protocols
- Conduct monthly follow-ups and monitor adherence, response, and side effects
- Work with Patient Coordinators on recall and safety monitoring
- Undertake complex patient reviews and comprehensive medication assessments within SWMS
- Escalate cases to the MDT and consult the Principal Doctor when appropriate
- Action MDT outcomes, liaise with GPs and secondary care clinicians, conduct consultations and follow-up calls
- Manage sensitive conversations regarding medication discontinuation or treatment ineligibility
- Provide clinical leadership in SWMS MDT meetings when the Principal Doctor is unavailable
- Advise health coaches, answer clinical queries, and deliver education and training
- Contribute to clinical protocols, prescribing guidance, training materials, and audits
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards and wider regulatory requirements
- Manage prescribing responsibilities and escalate complex or high-risk cases through governance pathways
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current GMC, NMC or GPhC registration with a licence to practise
- Independent Prescriber qualification
- Direct experience prescribing GLP-1 medications, privately and/or in an NHS setting
- Experience managing patients with complex comorbidities, particularly cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other obesity-related long-term conditions
- Weekend cover, such as a half day or full day on one weekend day, to support seven-day clinical coverage
- Preference for full-time permanent hires, with part-time considered for the right person
