About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide people leadership and technical direction across Sedona Digital engineering teams
Line manage developers across technologies, including regular one-to-ones, objective setting, development planning, feedback, and career conversations
Create a supportive environment with clear expectations, timely coaching, and growth opportunities
Provide technology-agnostic technical leadership on design, quality, maintainability, testing, security, and delivery approach
Work with senior engineers, architects, practice leads, and subject-matter experts for deeper technology-specific guidance
Monitor team capacity, delivery risks, wellbeing, and development needs; escalate concerns and follow through on actions
Support onboarding, probation reviews, performance conversations, and internal progression
Promote consistent engineering practices and knowledge sharing across teams, clients, and technology stacks
Contribute to recruitment and assessment activities, particularly for junior and mid-level engineering roles
Balance people leadership with delivery contributions according to team and engagement needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong software engineering experience in one or more technology stacks, together with the judgement to lead effectively across technologies
Demonstrable experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting the development of other engineers
Clear and adaptable communication skills, with the confidence to give feedback, handle difficult conversations, and align people around practical outcomes
Solid understanding of modern engineering practices, including code quality, testing, source control, secure development, continuous delivery, and operational ownership
Ability to understand unfamiliar technical contexts, ask effective questions, and involve the right specialist rather than relying on a single preferred technology
Fair, consistent, and people-focused approach, with good organisation and reliable follow-through
Previous formal line management experience is helpful but not essential; applicants should demonstrate leadership potential and a genuine commitment to developing others
