About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the day-to-day operations of the accounting department
- Assist the Controller with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger operations
- Train, mentor, and assist with performance evaluations for accounting staff
- Ensure financial operations comply with multi-state and federal laws and GAAP standards
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
- Organize internal data and act as secondary point of contact for external auditors during year-end reviews
- Collaborate with the Controller to develop and implement financial strategies and forecasts
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal accounting controls
- Evaluate procedures and recommend or implement more efficient solutions
- Support ERP implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Experience overseeing payroll, multi-state sales and use tax compliance, and financial reporting
- High proficiency in ERP software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and clear communication skills
- Polished interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- CPA or CMA designation preferred
- Experience implementing or working in NetSuite preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or inventory-based environment preferred
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls preferred
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing work duties
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers
- High level of cognitive skills for financial analysis
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, operating a 10-key, and utilizing other office machines
- Clarity of vision to read complex spreadsheets, analyze data on multiple screens, and visually inspect documents
- Ability to hear and speak clearly for in-person meetings and phone calls
- Remote candidates must be located in the Pacific Time Zone and comfortable with regular travel to Reno
