About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement donor-centered major gifts strategies for the Bay Area and Northern California
- Set fundraising goals and targets focused on securing leadership gifts of $10,000+ annually
- Develop compelling cases for support based on Seneca's programs, initiatives, goals, and financial needs
- Support CEO, Executive Director, Vice President of Development, leadership staff, and board members with prospect research and donor-meeting briefing materials
- Recruit and build the inaugural NorCal Leadership Board
- Manage board engagement, fundraising involvement, and quarterly meetings
- Implement moves management to progress major-gifts prospects from identification through solicitation and stewardship
- Plan and execute donor cultivation, stewardship, celebration, and program-briefing events
- Partner with program staff, board members, and organizational leadership
- Prepare regular fundraising and regional activity reports for senior leadership and the board
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 donors and prospects capable of giving $10,000+ annually
- Build personalized relationships through outreach, site visits, donor meetings, proposals, and events
- Prospect for current donors and new prospects with capacity and inclination to make annual gifts of $10,000 or more
- Coordinate donor outreach, stewardship reports, and impact communications with Development and enterprise colleagues
- Record donor interactions, future engagement, and gift opportunities in Raisers Edge
- Analyze portfolio performance and monitor progress toward goals
- Support campaign planning and execution, including setting and tracking goals
- Identify and cultivate planned-giving prospects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive fundraising experience
- Demonstrated success independently and collaboratively prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and closing donor gifts
- Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices, trends, and donor engagement strategies
- Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
- Maintain strict confidentiality of donor information
- Adhere to the AFP Donor Bill of Rights and ethical fundraising standards
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies' insurance policy
- TB test clearance, fingerprint clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
- Working knowledge of donor databases Raisers Edge and Microsoft Office suite
- Preferred CFRE credential
- Experience in fundraising for health/human services
- Experience building and managing high performing teams, including hiring, supervising, and developing staff
- Problem-solving mindset and diplomatic communication skills
- Ability to engage effectively with high-level partners across the progressive philanthropic ecosystem
- Strategic thinking and ability to align philanthropic goals with mission and outcomes
- Ability to design programmatic and campaign strategies to achieve ambitious fundraising goals
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. schedule
