About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform refrigeration, electrical, electronic, and mechanical maintenance independently on kitchen equipment
- Service, repair, replace, and maintain freezers, refrigerators, ice makers, milk coolers, dishwashers, water heaters, pumps, ovens, mixers, choppers, steam kettles, braisers, steamers, compressors, and related equipment
- Install and repair gas valves, electric fans, vents, thermocouples, pilot lights, door springs, electrical lines, conduits, wires, outlets, motors, switches, plugs, appliance cords, pipes, faucets, and disposals
- Locate and repair leaks, clear minor sink and disposal blockages, cut and thread pipe, and sweat copper pipes
- Repair and maintain heating and refrigeration units on food carts; fabricate and mount sneeze guards
- Assemble kitchen racks and carts and mount computer brackets for touch screens
- Maintain records of materials and time spent on maintenance and repair jobs
- Recommend repair or replacement of kitchen equipment
- Guide day-to-day operations of on-site Appliance Technicians, train staff, and plan and schedule work for technicians and subcontractors
- Maintain compliance with information security policies and procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate professionally with patrons, supervisors, managers, and staff
- Follow attendance, regulatory, departmental, and company policies
- Attend required meetings; work hours determined by a 24-hour schedule
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment
- High school diploma or equivalent is required and any combination equivalent to ten (10) years of experience in the journey-level repairs of kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, electronic and refrigeration methods, current technology, principles and practices related to institutional kitchens
- Kitchen maintenance and repair knowledge, including circuit tracing and troubleshooting related to electric motors, pumps, compressors, and electronic sensors
- Knowledge of current refrigeration technology and EPA regulations
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and substantiate a safe driving record acceptable to the liability insurance carrier
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees and customers
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees
- Ability to resolve problems/conflicts diplomatically and tactfully
- Adequate manual dexterity to operate small and large kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, and greasy conditions, confined areas, crawl spaces, roofs, and on ladders
- Ability to work around electricity, gas, Freon, motor oil, and other hazardous materials
- Ability to occasionally lift over fifty (50) pounds
- Occasional travel required
- Ability to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino
- Ability to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude under pressure in a fast-paced casino environment
- Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment
