HVAC Technician II

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, inspect, test, dismantle, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures in HVAC equipment
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, adjust, reassemble, test, and calibrate faulty parts, piping, and control wiring
- Clean, paint, secure, and perform mechanical repairs on equipment
- Change filters and fabricate parts using machine and hand tools
- Interpret drawings, diagrams, specifications, wiring, and pneumatic schematics
- Plan work procedures, tools, materials, and troubleshooting approaches
- Answer trouble calls and perform emergency repairs
- Apply mechanical, electrical, and HVAC principles while minimizing operational interference
- Maintain HVAC equipment performance and maintenance records
- Use coil cleaning machines, tube punchers, chiller bundle jetters, torches, die injection equipment, voltmeters, and gas pressure gauges
- Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building equipment
- Troubleshoot control issues and load programs
- Work with Building Management Control Systems and use computers to order inventory and repair parts
- Follow information security policies and procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional work environment
- Meet attendance, regulatory, departmental, and company policies
- Attend required meetings and complete required SGC training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment
- High school diploma or its equivalency required
- Must possess and retain an ARI Certification for HVAC Technician-Type: Universal
- Ten years of previous hands-on HVAC experience
- Knowledge and experience in commercial HVAC applications
- Must be well versed in the National Electrical Code, New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, National Fire Prevention Association and Occupational Safety and Health Association
- Working knowledge of air-cooled units, air flow, controls, chillers, boilers, air filtration, dust collection, HEPA filtering systems, pipefitting, and sheet metal installation and repairs
- In-depth experience in commercial/industrial electrical systems, 480/208V 3-Ph. systems, 3 Ph. motor wiring, and motor/electrical control systems
- Proficient in copper, PVC, and T&C piping; copper sweating proficiency expected
- Able to read, interpret, and implement architectural, engineering, and design drawings
- Experience overseeing subcontractors and organizing job plans
- Broad HVAC training using testing equipment, gauges, drawings, schematics, precision instruments, and field tools
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements, safety and first aid, welding, fire alarm systems, HVAC, and plumbing
- Knowledgeable in the operation and use of HVAC tools and testing equipment
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Proven ability to act as a lead HVAC Technician and mentor other HVAC Technicians
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and substantiate a safe driving record
- Effective decision-making, prioritization, initiative, and ownership of projects and improvements
- Knowledge of electrical terminology and ability to read blueprints and drawings
- Excellent communication skills and ability to write correspondence, develop presentations, proposals, and reports
- Ability to interact effectively with customers and employees and resolve problems diplomatically
- Must be in good physical condition with manual dexterity and good color sense
- Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment
- Must be able to work second shift and a 24-hour schedule
- Must be able to work in casino environments, including smoking-permitted areas
- Must be able to stand, walk, work at heights up to 90 feet, on ladders/scaffolds, in tight spaces, and in temperatures below 32°F and above 90°F
- Must perform heavy/strenuous manual work and maintain physical stamina under pressure
