About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Write production-quality, well-tested Python scraper code with comprehensive unit and integration tests
  • Learn and apply the collection platform architecture across scrapers, proxy layer, queues and enrichment API
  • Debug issues across multiple components using logging, monitoring and alerting tools
  • Work with proxy infrastructure, including selection, rotation and recovery from blocks
  • Participate in incident response, follow established processes and document findings
  • Build reliability-engineering depth through SRE practices, resilience patterns and observability
  • Deliver work steadily in small increments that are reviewed and merged quickly
  • Understand the build, test and deployment pipeline end to end
  • Automate repetitive workflow steps and suggest concrete process improvements
  • Use and evaluate an AI coding assistant, documenting effective practices for teammates
  • Participate in code reviews and help onboard newer teammates through pairing and review
  • Collaborate with backend engineers, Product Management and infrastructure specialists
  • Report to the Engineering Manager of the Data Enrichment Crawler Team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Around 1–2 years of professional software engineering experience, or a strong portfolio of internships, personal projects or open-source work
  • Solid Python skills
  • Hands-on exposure to web scraping or automated data collection
  • Working understanding of HTTP and networking fundamentals, including requests, responses, headers, status codes, TLS and proxies
  • Comfort writing tests and working with Git in a code-review culture
  • Basic comfort with Docker; willingness to learn Kubernetes on the job
  • Regular use of at least one AI coding assistant
  • Habit of reading release notes, documentation and engineering blogs
  • Realistic self-assessment on timelines and ability to raise blockers with context
  • Ownership of outcomes and habit of surfacing problems and mistakes early
  • Willingness to advocate for the customer perspective
  • Openness to learning Java/Spring
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Fluent English
  • Preferred additional exposure to Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, Scrapy or low-level HTTP clients
  • Preferred exposure to cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS, or infrastructure as code
  • Familiarity with Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana or InfluxDB
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, especially GitHub Actions
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Redis or DynamoDB
  • Interest in fraud prevention, trust and safety, or domains where data freshness is a product requirement
