About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build the finance function, including processes, systems, and standards, from day one.
Own general and sub-ledger accounting and gradually bring bookkeeping in-house from the external provider.
Run accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payment processes.
Prepare monthly and quarterly closes under HGB.
Support annual financial statements and Sereact’s first statutory audit.
Help determine the target finance systems setup, including whether Odoo replaces DATEV or operates as a subledger.
Act as day-to-day counterpart to tax advisors and auditors.
Build finance processes and initial automations with the Director Accounting.
Address group-wide finance topics for the US and Swiss entities.
Work closely with leadership, founders, external tax partners, and audit partners.

Requirements

What you’ll need

A degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred, not required.
Solid HGB fundamentals.
Hands-on DATEV or comparable experience.
Experience with monthly and annual closes.
IFRS knowledge is a plus.
Hands-on builder mindset; ability to build from scratch without finished processes or a team.
Comfort with ambiguity and fast change; ability to structure work independently.
Pragmatic approach with a clear sense of when rigor matters, especially closing and audit.
Tool- and automation-savvy; modern tools and AI usage.
Odoo or ERP experience is a plus.
Fluent German and good English.
Willingness to work on-site at the Stuttgart headquarters / attend the on-site interview in Stuttgart.
Work authorization for Germany as applicable.
