About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage raw water sources through plant processes
  • Conduct onsite sampling and laboratory testing
  • Produce drinking water to high-quality standards safely and cost efficiently
  • Work a rotating 24/7/365 shift rota and participate in a standby rota
  • Operate the water treatment works using SCADA and PRISM control platforms
  • Own site performance, including power efficiency, water quality, chemical optimisation, and asset availability
  • Monitor complex treatment processes
  • Optimise treatment processes to meet customer demand and changing water quality
  • Communicate and escalate operational issues
  • Proactively manage onsite chemical stocks
  • Review water quality trends and asset performance and prevent failures
  • Complete onsite testing to assure the treatment process
  • Work alongside maintenance, process, and local management teams
  • Perform lone working and dynamically solve problems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience working in a mechanical/electrical environment advantageous
  • Experience with chemical processes beneficial
  • Full valid UK driving licence required
  • Water Treatment Process Knowledge/Experience
  • Experience operating distribution systems if required by the role
  • Shift work experience
  • Commitment to Health and Safety
  • Maintenance knowledge/experience
  • Process experience if not specifically in Water Treatment
  • Experience writing and following systems of work
  • HMI/SCADA systems and ability to interpret data
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to complete several tasks at once
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to complete and achieve either a technical skills bootcamp or Level 2 Water Process Operator Apprenticeship, depending on experience
