About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and build backend services in Golang integrating with payment processors, gateways, and card networks
- Own authorization, capture, settlement, refunds, reconciliation, and chargeback/dispute flows end to end
- Build idempotent, fault-tolerant, auditable transaction processing in a distributed architecture
- Operate within PCI DSS scope, including tokenization, network tokens, secure payment-data handling, and 3DS/SCA flows
- Instrument and monitor authorization/decline rates, processor performance, latency, and settlement accuracy
- Use Claude or equivalent LLM tools for design, coding, research, testing, and documentation within security policies
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across the team
- Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, Support, and other engineering teams
- Occasionally lead small project teams through delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, with meaningful experience in payments, fintech, or money-movement systems
- Strong Go, or comparable Python experience, building and serving REST APIs
- Hands-on experience integrating with payment processors, gateways, or acquiring systems
- Familiarity with authorization, settlement, tokenization, idempotency, reconciliation, and chargebacks/disputes
- Experience with distributed, cloud-based architectures using transactional outboxes or queuing tools such as Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ
- Demonstrated hands-on use of Claude or an equivalent LLM to enhance productivity, research, and communication
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with SQL-based RDBMS through an ORM
- Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, New Relic, or Datadog
- DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with containerized microservice architecture deployed with Kubernetes on AWS
- Demonstrated history of delivering commercial APIs and web applications
- Record of bringing products to market and prioritizing improvements based on stakeholder/customer feedback
