About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain and increase Shaw’s profitability and market share in the assigned geographic area
  • Develop strong relationships with flooring dealer customers through knowledge, service, trust, and integrity
  • Implement major market programs and services and place samples to drive business growth
  • Make daily sales calls on existing customers, emphasizing hard surface flooring products, samples, displays, adhesive, and related floor products
  • Present products to retail dealers, designers, and end-users
  • Analyze leads provided by corporate reports
  • Sell and construct display racks weighing 50 pounds or more on a regular basis
  • Prospect for viable new accounts and monitor activity in the designated geographic area
  • Prepare business transaction, sales volume, potential sales, and periodic sales reports
  • Communicate sales information, goals, competitive market conditions, and product needs
  • Analyze territory sales statistics using computer reports to formulate goals and assist dealers in promoting sales
  • Manage travel, entertainment, and sample-budget expenditures
  • Enter customer interactions and key information into Salesforce.com
  • Sell and promote residential products including Shaw Floors, Anderson Tuftex, and Philly Commercial, and educate customers on these products

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High-school diploma or GED and 1 year of sales experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Completion of the Shaw sales trainee program can be substituted for experience
  • Must reside in the market
  • Must be able to travel in a vehicle that can carry product sample boards, requiring a van or approved SUV
  • Ability to lift samples and build displays weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include some evenings
  • Proven experience using a laptop computer and basic Microsoft Windows software, including MS Office
  • Experience with outside sales of flooring solutions and interior design highly preferred
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Professional conduct in the workplace and community
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, navigate ambiguity, and work as a team player
