About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Cultivate relationships with new and existing end-use customers within the Western PA, Eastern OH, Western NY, and WVA market
  • Develop distributor, installation, and construction partners within the local market
  • Present Shaw’s products, systems, and solutions to end users and key stakeholders
  • Educate architects and engineers on Shaw’s full range of offerings
  • Prospect proactively for new project opportunities and monitor market activity within the assigned geographic area
  • Use a consultative approach to select appropriate systems based on usage requirements, budget, and timeframe
  • Establish, maintain, and grow distribution partner relationships
  • Give presentations to end users, school boards, facilities management personnel, senior-level stakeholders, architects, and engineers
  • Travel throughout the assigned area to call on existing customers and solicit new business
  • Build customer relationships through lunches, dinners, and special events
  • Attend regional and national conventions when required
  • Establish a presence and relationships with end-use networking groups
  • Manage a widespread territory with a remote support team across multiple time zones

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5 years previous outside sales experience or qualified sales training program completion
  • 50% to 75% Travel required
  • Must reside within territory
  • Experience in athletic field construction or comparable (preferred)
  • Experience selling in the public sector (preferred)
  • Experience in the athletic industry (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Full understanding of the product line, procurement processes, and sports field construction
  • Ability to work with and manage territory through CRM tools such as Salesforce.com and other digital environments
  • Ability to understand basic biomechanics and sports science principles and communicate them to customers
  • Ability to operate in complex and long sales processes with a solutions mindset and reasonable autonomy
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of customers in a friendly and respectable manner
