About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Train field service personnel within the applicable region in ESQEQ, Smith Driver Training, and region-specific training
- Perform jobsite safety audits on field service personnel to ensure safe work practices and compliance with Shermco's health and safety policy
- Prepare for and host documented quarterly safety meetings (departmental and regional)
- Assist in the development, implementation, and oversight of safe work practices
- Partner with field personnel, local management, and regional EHS to develop and maintain a positive safety culture
- Verify that standard operating procedures are being utilized and qualify field personnel
- Partner with EHS on accident or incident investigations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Prefer Associate's degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, NAVY Seabee, or Navy conventional/Nuclear EM)
- Must have at least 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and MS Excel; experience with PowerDB a plus
- Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- Prefer OSHA 30 Hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training on each can be provided
- Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally, and be available for periodic overnight travel
- Experience in inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, performing start-up and collecting data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems; instrument transformer tests
- Power transformer testing — Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
- Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
- Cable testing — Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
- Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting
- Low, medium and high voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
- Must be willing to travel up to 75%
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
