About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work on low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers from GE, Westinghouse, Powell, ABB, ITE, and other manufacturers
  • Travel overnight occasionally to job sites for onsite breaker testing and repair
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, retrofit, test, and repair low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear
  • Tear down and assemble breakers, contactors, related switchgear, and electrical apparatus
  • Work with high-voltage switchgear up to 3000A, SF-6 vacuum circuit breakers, ATS, 13.8kV/60Hz and 11kV/50Hz equipment
  • Work with medium-voltage switchgear up to 3100A, vacuum circuit breakers, ATS, 15.5kV, 4.16kV/60Hz and 6/6kV/50Hz equipment
  • Work with low-voltage switchgear up to 3000A, air circuit breakers, ATS, 480V/60Hz and 400V/50Hz equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Electro-mechanical training from trade school, apprenticeship, or armed services preferred
  • Previous experience rebuilding, repairing, and retrofitting circuit breakers
  • 480V to 15KV circuit breaker experience desired
  • PEARL breaker certification desirable
  • Testing skills and understanding of fundamental electrical and mechanical testing procedures preferred
  • Experience at an OEM breaker manufacturer is a plus
  • Strong mechanical skills; experience with industrial mechanical engines, pneumatics, hydraulics, or diesel equipment beneficial
  • Working knowledge of power systems, power circuit breakers, and switchgear apparatus desirable
  • Experience using Megger, digital multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, Oil Dielectric strength tester, multiamps relay tester, primary and secondary injection set, cable fault detector, and oscilloscope desirable
  • Experience reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Must pass an acceptable criminal background check
  • Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
  • Valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.
  • Must read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time
