About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Travel to industrial and commercial customer sites
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data for low-, medium- and high-voltage electrical systems ranging from 480 volts to 600 kV
- Perform instrument transformer tests
- Conduct power transformer testing, including Doble, TTR and insulation resistance testing
- Test electromechanical and solid-state relays
- Perform cable testing, including Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF and DC Hipot
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
- Test low-, medium- and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
- Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
- Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE degree from an ABET-accredited college is preferred; similar military experience and training may qualify
- NETA Certification I, II, III or IV or similar is desired
- At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
- Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred; training can be provided
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, and perform physically demanding work, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
- Must remain drug-free and pass pre-employment hair follicle and periodic random drug tests
- Acceptable pre-employment criminal background check
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand, walk and lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime, including occasional weekends, holidays and nights
- Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Willingness to travel at least 40%
