About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair services on electrical distribution systems and equipment
  • Travel to industrial and commercial customer sites
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems from 480 V to 600 kV
  • Perform instrument transformer tests
  • Conduct power transformer testing using Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, and related methods
  • Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
  • Perform cable testing, including Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
  • Test low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
  • Work with a team to complete assignments safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
  • Occasional emergency response, on-call duty, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), EE degree from an ABET-accredited college, or similar military experience and training preferred
  • NETA Certification (I, II, III, or IV) or similar desired
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
  • Good PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
  • OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred
  • Applicants must currently reside within 75 miles of Denver; transitioning military personnel are exempt
  • Must remain drug-free and pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Must pass an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check
  • Physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Willingness to travel at least 40%
