About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Travel to industrial and commercial customer sites
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data for low-, medium- and high-voltage electrical systems from 480 V to 600 kV
  • Perform instrument transformer tests
  • Perform power transformer testing, including Doble, TTR and insulation resistance testing
  • Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
  • Perform cable testing, including Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF and DC Hipot
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
  • Test low-, medium- and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE degree from an ABET-accredited college preferred; similar military experience and training accepted
  • NETA Certification I, II, III or IV or similar desired
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
  • Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience a plus
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
  • OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods and drive regularly
  • Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required
  • Must remain drug-free and pass pre-employment and periodic random drug tests
  • Must have an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check
  • Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must pass a fit for duty physical exam
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, including occasional weekends, holidays and nights
  • Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Must be willing to travel at least 40%
  • All offers conditioned on acceptable background check and drug and alcohol screening
