About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data for low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems from 480 volts to 600 kV
  • Travel to industrial and commercial customer sites across Kansas, Missouri, and bordering states
  • Perform instrument transformer tests
  • Conduct power transformer testing using Doble, TTR, and insulation resistance methods
  • Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
  • Perform cable testing using Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
  • Test low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE Degree from an ABET accredited college; similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee) also considered
  • NETA Certification (III or IV) or similar desired, or Electrician license preferred
  • At least 5 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
  • Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience a plus
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
  • Ability to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
  • Pass a pre-employment criminal background check
  • Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
  • Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime, including occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
