About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data for low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems from 480 volts to 600 kV
  • Travel to industrial and commercial customer sites across Washington and bordering states
  • Perform instrument transformer tests
  • Conduct power transformer testing, including Doble, TTR, and insulation resistance testing
  • Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
  • Perform cable testing, including Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
  • Test low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
  • Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) preferred, or an EE degree from an ABET-accredited college; similar military experience and training may qualify
  • NETA Certification III or IV or similar desired; electrician license preferred
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
  • Good PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to electrical safety procedures
  • OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred
  • Ability to drive daily locally/regionally and availability for periodic overnight travel
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
  • Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
  • U.S. passport and TWIC card are a plus
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills
