About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Travel to industrial and commercial customer sites
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up, and collect data on low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems from 480 volts to 600 kV
- Perform instrument transformer tests
- Conduct power transformer testing using Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, and related methods
- Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
- Perform cable testing using Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
- Test low-, medium-, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
- Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
- May require occasional emergency response, on-call duty, and work during evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE degree from an ABET-accredited college preferred; similar military experience and training accepted
- NETA Certification I, II, III, or IV or similar desired
- At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
- Good PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred
- Applicants must currently reside within 75 miles of Denver; transitioning military personnel are exempt
- Must remain drug-free and pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Must pass an acceptable pre-employment criminal background check
- Must be physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations; must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
- Must not currently or in the future require sponsorship to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Willingness to travel; minimum 40%
- All offers conditioned on acceptable background check and drug and alcohol screening results
