Senior NETA Field Service Technician

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data at industrial and commercial customer sites
- Work with low-, medium- and high-voltage electrical systems from 480 Volt to 600 kV
- Perform instrument transformer tests
- Perform power transformer testing using Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, and related methods
- Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
- Perform cable testing using Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, and DC Hipot
- Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches
- Test low-, medium- and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
- Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner
- Travel to customer job sites across Louisiana and bordering states
Requirements
What you’ll need- Prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an EE Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
- NETA Certification (III or IV) or similar desired or Electrician license preferred
- At least 5 or more years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing and troubleshooting
- Good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus
- Ability to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures
- Ability to drive daily locally/regionally and availability for periodic overnight travel
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
- Pass a fit for duty physical exam
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record
- Availability for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit)
- Willingness to travel
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
