About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Communicate with insurance companies to facilitate medication approvals
- Assist patients with pharmacy insurance claims
- Support prior authorization requests and medication access with clinician offices
- Research and secure financial assistance through foundations, manufacturers, and other funding sources
- Navigate pharmacy operating systems to input data, adjudicate test claims, process refills, and develop follow-up action plans
- Review prescriptions with physicians' offices
- Support medication adherence and compliance through phone communication with patients
- Collaborate with pharmacists and pharmacy liaisons
- Document patient concerns, prior authorization status, and financial assistance needs across databases, EMRs, and email systems
- Maintain accurate patient communication records and update database information
- Research and analyze information for strategic decision-making
- Improve operations, productivity, quality, and customer service standards
- Identify trends, resolve issues, recommend and implement improvements
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Act as a business partner to organizational stakeholders
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Active Rhode Island Pharmacy Technician license
- PTCB or NHA national certification
- State-registered Pharmacy Technician status
- Continued employment contingent upon meeting all applicable licensure and certification requirements
- Solid computer skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to navigate the internet and web-based platforms
- Data entry and computer skills will be evaluated through a pre-employment assessment
- Must maintain confidentiality of information
